Hexham Match report 21st August 2018

With a contingent of 16 players we were all looking forward to playing on Hexham’s lush fairways and trim greens but whilst the greens were OK the fairways had suffered badly in this year’s dry summer and it seemed hard to justify the £35.00 cost.

Whilst, on arrival, the car par was busy the course seemed quiet and therefore the few time that a fairway crossed another it did not impede on the flow of the golf.

The Captain, Chris Davy put in a very respectable score of 35 he was beaten into third place by Noel Dilks with 36 points (his earlier show of promise of a front nine of 24 points sadly fell away in the back nine). The unquestionable winner with a score of 38 (with a handicap of 5) was Paul Holmes – Well Done Paul.

The match was followed by a meal of a very anaemic looking but tasty chicken and mushroom pie, veg and chips followed by Eton mess.
