There is no doubt that the view from every hole on the course is stunning particularly on a very hot day in June after almost four months of enforced isolation.
With only eight players the balls were simply thrown in the air to decide on the make up of the two four-balls.
As anticipated the course was in immaculate condition but was still very strenuous when taking on the steep climbs and descents. The rough was rough and it favored those that could drive straight and accurate (no hope for me then!)
After almost four hours in the blistering heat a refreshing drink in the bar would have been very welcome but due to the Coronavirus restrictions this was not available. Fortunately, most had brought a light snack and drink so that we could at least have a small catch up even though “social distancing” had to be observed.
With a tie on first place on 32 points it fell on the last nine holes to confirm that Darren Smith was a winner with Chris Morrison a close second place. Robin Down failed to take advantage of local course knowledge and came in third on 29 points.
Again, a good day was had by all.
